Wow! 25 years of marriage! Today, that is quite an accomplishment, to say the least. You'd think after 25 years, I'd be an expert on what makes a successful marriage, but I doubt I know anymore than anyone else out there. I do know that a marriage is not only measured by the good times, but by how you survive through the rough times together as well. This isn't how I envisioned our 25th Anniversary at all. I envisioned that we would be financially set, I'd be thin and model-like, and the two of us would be on a Caribbean cruise soaking up the sun. Didn't quite account for spending the day in the hospital with my ailing father-in-law, me with a scabbed-up but healing lip, and Pete at work all day long, but God knew it all from the beginning. We are still together, we are committed (and not to a mental institution), and we are facing a so-far tough year together.
God has blessed us with two great kids whom we love with all our hearts, with families who have proven their dedication to each other through the really rough times, and the best friends two people could ever ask for. So, no, it's not quite how I envisioned it....it's tons better! :-)
