25 YEARS OF MARRIAGE

Wow! 25 years of marriage! Today, that is quite an accomplishment, to say the least. You'd think after 25 years, I'd be an expert on what makes a successful marriage, but I doubt I know anymore than anyone else out there. I do know that a marriage is not only measured by the good times, but by how you survive through the rough times together as well.
This isn't how I envisioned our 25th Anniversary at all. I envisioned that we would be financially set, I'd be thin and model-like, and the two of us would be on a Caribbean cruise soaking up the sun. Didn't quite account for spending the day in the hospital with my ailing father-in-law, me with a scabbed-up but healing lip, and Pete at work all day long, but God knew it all from the beginning. We are still together, we are committed (and not to a mental institution), and we are facing a so-far tough year together.
God has blessed us with two great kids whom we love with all our hearts, with families who have proven their dedication to each other through the really rough times, and the best friends two people could ever ask for. So, no, it's not quite how I envisioned it....it's tons better! :-)

From my morning devotions I think the term "We are committed" is awesome! "We are committed" is what the Lord ask of us in our Christian walk, as in our marriages. We know that neither walk will always be a walk on that Caribbean Beach but that is when we grow the most. My sweet sister and brother in the Lord; I am proud of your commitment and example and I love you both very much!

In 2 Timothy 4:7-8 - Paul tells us... I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.

It is by this very commitment that we see true love in our marriages and when we see the love of Jesus shinning through them!! Keep up the good fight Pete and Lisa.

We had a nice time last evening. We went out for a quiet dinner, visited Pete's dad, came home and sat in the hottub and just plain relaxed. It felt SO GOOD to just chill for an evening! :-) Thank you all for the well wishes. We are looking forward to the next 25 years!
